City Manager's Message

As spring quickly approaches and we enjoy the scenic dusting of snow on Saddleback Mountain as we travel throughout the City, it may seem hard to believe that summer is right around the corner! In the Spring issue of the Rancho Santa Margarita Community Living Magazine you'll find information on our popular Summer Camps; registration begins on Tuesday, April 3rd. This year's lineup includes acting, art, crafts, cooking, filmmaking, and more. Speaking of great lineups, we'll be announcing our Summer Concert Series lineup soon! Visit our website, cityofrsm.org, for the latest news on all of our upcoming special events, classes, workshops, and activities.

ZeroTrash RSM

Saturday, March 3rd

ZeroTrash Rancho Santa Margarita is a volunteer group that meets on the "Zero T First Saturday" of each month to rally together to rid the community of litter. All are welcome; parents, children, students, friends, neighbors  – anyone interested in keeping RSM clean!

Volunteers meet in front of Cinepolis/ Panera at 10:00 a.m. and fan out from there. ZeroTrash provides the pickers and bags; volunteers are asked to closely supervise young children at all times, stay on trails and to keep a look out for snakes!  Return pickers and trash at noon behind the Bell Tower Community Center and obtain sign-offs for certification of community service hours or badge requirements.

Follow ZeroTrash RSM on Facebook  or visit their website for more information.

Income Tax Preparation Assistance

The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program is now into its 4th year in the City of Rancho Santa Margarita. Tax preparation is done for lower-income individuals (threshold $60,000) under the auspices of the United Way of Orange County and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). While the primary sponsor is San Francisco Solano Catholic Church and the majority of trained volunteer tax preparers are members of the parish, the services being provided serve all members of the community, regardless of religious affiliation, at no cost to the individuals. The program is periodically audited by the IRS as well as the United Way.

Tax preparation will continue on Saturdays (9 a.m. - 3 p.m.) and on Tuesdays (6 -9 p.m.) to approximately the first week of April.

Please call (949) 589-7767 for more information.
