In Orange County, there are two agencies responsible for property tax valuation and collection: the Orange County Assessor Department and the Orange County Tax Collector's Office.
Orange County Assessor Department
The
Orange County Assessor Department is responsible for:
- Valuing all legally assessable property
- Developing values with fairness and impartiality
- Producing property tax assessment rolls in accordance with the laws of the State of California
- Assisting property owners in understanding their property valuations
- Providing accurate information in a timely and courteous manner
Orange County Tax Collector's Office
The
Orange County Tax Collector's Office is responsible for:
- Collecting taxes on all secured and unsecured property in Orange County
- Sale of property subject to the "power to sell" (formerly known as delinquent tax-deeded property)
- Providing remittance processing services, information system services, and departmental administrative support
