Types of Hazardous Waste

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) is prohibited by state law to be thrown away in the garbage and is required to be disposed of properly. HHW includes:
  • Fertilizer
  • Gasoline
  • Household cleaners
  • Medications
  • Oil
  • Paint
  • Pesticides
  • Pool chemicals
  • Propane

This facility is located in front of the Irvine City Dog Park. This facility also has a Stop and Swap Program where you can take products that have been disposed of at the facility for reuse at no cost.

Special Facility Notes

Materials Exchange Program

Orange County has a Materials Exchange Program located at each of the HHW locations. Residents can take home gently used household, yard, and car care products for free. The availability of free products varies but may include oil-based paint, household cleaners, wood care, products, antifreeze, and other automotive products.
