Finance

The Finance Department is responsible for all aspects of the City's accounting process (accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, general ledger, financial reporting, and independent audit), preparation of the City Budget document, payroll administration and processing, investment management and purchase review.

Accounting
The Finance Department maintains all accounting records for the General Fund, Special Revenue Funds, and the Capital Project Fund. The Finance Department also processes bi-weekly payrolls for the City's full-time and part-time employees and monitors departmental purchases to ensure that competitive bidding procedures are employed and to ensure that quality merchandise and services are obtained in an economical manner.

Preparing Budgets

The Finance Director assists the City Manager in the preparation of the proposed City Budget and Capital Improvement Program. Specific duties related to the budget include the preparation of revenue forecasts and the analysis of departmental budget requests. The Finance Director also assists the City Manager in investing the City's idle cash. The City's monies are generally invested in the State Local Agency Investment Fund.
